ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! My name is Rachael N. Miller, and I am the person behind Mosaic Heart Doula. My husband Sam and I currently live in a quiet mountain town in Grand County, Colorado where we act as pet wranglers for our two cats, Rocky and Midna. I am originally from Nebraska, so it has been an adjustment getting used to -30 degree weather during the mountain winters.

My husband and I share a passion for wildlife and the outdoors, but we are both homebodies by choice. I often spend my time reading, writing in coffee shops, or knitting a gift for a friend while watching YouTube videos.

In 2015, Sam and I lost our first baby to a blighted ovum miscarriage. In 2020, we lost our second around 11-12 weeks gestation. As devastating as those losses were, I see them as the events that really gave me a heart for mothers, families, and babies. In March of 2023 we welcomed our rainbow baby into our family, and we sadly had a third loss in 2024. I am on a path of continually learning and growing as a mother and a support person for others on their journey with parenthood. My own children are what inspired me to pursue a profession as a doula—helping others in one of the most life-changing parts of life: welcoming a new baby (or babies!) into the world.

Choosing to start a doula practice in an area where the nearest delivery unit is an hour away has been a challenge; but I have managed to make some beautiful connections with the people in Grand County, start teaching a childbirth class at our local pregnancy center, and become a certified lactation counselor. It is my hope to open the door to more options for parents in the Rocky Mountains.

It is truly an honor to serve people in this way. I am excited to make more connections and to grow in my knowledge and experience as a doula and a CLC.
